MISSIONS

Going the distance makes a difference. The apostle Paul in Acts 17 thought understanding the worldview and customs of those in Athens was necessary to communicate the message of the risen Christ. It is just as important in our time. The Gospel doesn’t change, but learning how to connect with people in their own culture is crucial.

The specialized training in missions provides customized training; its purpose is to equip mission teams to effectively share the Gospel in the culture they will be living in. All of the instructors in Missions were missionaries in different nations around the world. Not only do they have theoretical knowledge but also hands-on experience along with a heart for world evangelism.

MISSIONS EMPHASIS CLASSES

  • Understanding multiple facets of culture—how it influences worldview, the implementation of different systems, and one’s ability to share the Gospel message effectively. Developing good strategies for maintaining all aspects of missionary and family health before the field, on the field, and returning from the field.

  • Learning the ins and outs of building spiritual and financial partners for mission service. Effective ways and strategies to build lasting supporter relationships. Understanding the dynamics and good practices of mission team formation and function with people of similar and different cultural backgrounds.

  • Learning principles that help Christian missionaries develop their own character of leadership and the practice of leading others.

  • Forming a strategic plan for executing long-term ministry in missions. The study of practical procedures and methodologies for starting and growing new churches both stateside and abroad.

** Mission teams seeking additional preparation can participate in a customized plan following graduation that is about six months in length and is geared toward getting ready “to go” with a specific field in mind (Advanced School of Missions).
